Description
Winner’s Circle 14-14.5 Inch Doll Clothes Pattern
Winner’s Circle, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of a lined Dress and a fancy Picture Hat, which together create a chic outfit. Style line darts on the Dress allow for an attractive fitted shape, while an easy-opening back is ideal for children’s hands. For this pattern, there is the option of one-to-three layers of petal ruffles on the sleeves (which can be lined or unlined). There is also a little puff at each sleevehead and two choices in dress length. The white dress here displays the longer length, while the black dress shows the shorter length. With the Picture Hat, there is a soft lined interior that can be interfaced if desired. Embellishments added to the Dress and Hat such as ribbons, trim, and beadwork finish off a winning set so your doll is ready for any classy occasion.
“Winner’s Circle” is designed to fit 14 – 14½ inch dolls such as WellieWishers™ and Hearts for Hearts Girls®. This pattern is also available for 18″ dolls such as American Girl®.
Recommended Fabrics: Stretch or woven; for example, quilting cotton, light cotton, chiffon, taffeta stretch, and broadcloth. Also fabrics for linings, such as lawn, quilting cotton, bemsilk lining, satin.
Supplies Needed:
Dress
- “Fabric One” 18″ (wide) x 19″ (deep), woven cotton, non-stretch or 2-way knit stretch fabric like quilting cotton, cottons, polyester and/or stretch fabrics. I have used a rayon polyester fabric in the black dress, and a chiffon fabric for the white dress.
- “Fabric Two” 14″ (wide)” x 8″ (deep) woven cotton, non-stretch or knit stretch lining fabric like lawn, voile, satin, and stretch lining fabrics. I have used bemsilk lining for both outfits.
- “Fabric Six” 8″ (wide) x 9″ (deep) lightweight lining fabric for lining the sleeve petal ruffles, such as tulle non-stretch or stretch. This is an optional fabric and is for those seamstresses who don’t want to zig-zag, overcast or serge the main fashion fabric on the sleeve petal ruffles. You could also use your main fashion fabric to line the sleeve ruffles. Note: The black dress shows three layers of ruffles, which are all made from tulle (and unlined). The white dress shows one layer of ruffle, which is created from the fashion fabric “one” and is overcast along the edges (and unlined).
- Matching or contrasting thread
- Removable marker pen, chalk, tracing wheel, tracing paper, etc., to mark the darts with.
- Beads for beadwork and design. (Optional)
- Hook and loop, snap fasteners, or hook and eye closures, etc.
Picture Hat
- “Fabric Three” 12″ (wide) x 15″ (deep), woven cotton, non-stretch fabric for the main hat like quilting cotton. I have used a stretch taffeta for the black hat and a quilting cotton for the mint hat.
- “Fabric Four” 12″ (wide) x 15″ (deep), woven cotton, non-stretch fabric for hat lining like quilting cotton or non-stretch lining fabric. In my examples, I have used the same fabric (that is, “fabric three”), so that the hat lining is the same as the hat’s fashion fabric.
- “Fabric Five” 12″ (wide) x 15″ (deep), interfacing
- Ribbons and embellishments. Optional.
