The top buttons down the back. The shorts sit at the hips and close in the back with hook and loop tape. They feature sewn seams down the front.

-Thread
-hook and loop tape
-1/4 yard cotton fabric for midriff top
-Remnant piece of cotton for the midriff top lining
-Three 1/2” buttons
-Single Fold Bias Tape

note: the fabric that works best is polyester stretch fabric that was all the rage in the 60s and 70s. It has just the right amount of “give”.
