Les Souvenirs 18″ Doll Clothes Pattern
“Les Souvenirs”, by Karen Lorraine Design, is a beautiful pattern representing a bygone era. This outfit was inspired by childhood memories of playing with Gingham paper dolls and my enjoyment of all-things-Prairie. The four pieces of Pantaloons, Dress, Smock, and Bonnet can also create several different outfits and looks.
Completely sewn in woven cotton fabrics, the outfit begins with elastic-waisted pantaloons. This is followed by a gentle unlined underdress with easy-to-follow illustrated instructions demonstrating the sleeves’ placket and cuffs. A ruffle at the dress base complements the look, while a clean neckline and back closure finish off the dress. In contrast, the smock offers a fantastic opportunity to pull out all those spare scraps of fabric and put them to use. The smock also presents the opportunity to put your own artistic designs into play. While the smock requires no closures, ties are suggested if desired. Finishing the outfit is a gorgeous bonnet with lined brim. Whether the pieces are worn separately or as an entire outfit, “Les Souvenirs” offers the seamstress a trip through time as well as a lot of pleasure and beauty.
The “Les Souvenirs” PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18-inch dolls such as American Girl® and Our Generation™.
Recommended Fabrics: Woven cotton non-stretch fabrics like quilting cotton, broadcloth, lawn.
Supplies Needed:
- “Fabric One” for Pantaloons and Bonnet 39″ (w) x 22″ (deep), woven cotton, non-stretch like quilting cotton, cotton.
- “Fabric Two” for Dress 39″ (w) by 30″ (d) woven cotton, non-stretch, like lawn or quilting cotton.
- “Fabric Three” consists of scrap fabrics for the Smock (which is created from rectangles of fabric). I have used woven cottons like quilting cotton fabrics, lawn, broadcloth or similar. I have used scrap pieces for the blue outfit. For the pink outfit, I used four pieces of fabric, with three pieces being 19″ (w) by 19″ (d) and the fourth piece being a fat quarter. This was ample material to cut the smock from.
