Mindil Beach Dress 18″ Doll Clothes Pattern
The Liberty Jane Outback Libby: Mindil Beach Dress, Aussie fashion flair for your doll! Your 18-inch doll is sure to stand out in the crowd at Darwin’s popular Mindil Beach Market wearing her favorite new dress! Whether she’s looking to make a statement in the Australian Outback or simply look stylish abroad, this dress is perfect!
This on-trend design features an A-line shape with full-length princess seams on both the front and back of the dress. It has a gentle fullness around the skirt portion allowing for a bit of soft flowing movement. The tiny cap sleeves and faux button front details add to the overall dainty feel, but the stand out feature is the lace-up eyelet closure on the backside of the dress! The lined bodice can be made using the fashion fabric or a cute contrasting print.
The dress is shown, sewn along the front with a faux button closure. If desired, you can easily leave the front placket open (the same as the Surfrider Sundress) and sew hook and loop tape or snaps under the buttons (or sew functional buttonholes).
Suggested fabrics: lightweight woven cottons, rayon challis, lawn, soft silky polyblends, and shirting cottons.
Supplies Needed:
- 1/3 yard fabric
- 9″ x 11″ piece lining fabric
- Eight 1/4″ buttons
- Ten 1/8″ – 1/4″ eyelets
- 18″ piece or narrow cording, ribbon, or twill tape
- 3.5″ piece of 1/8″ wide elastic
- iron & pressing board
- Thread
- Hand sewing needle
- Eyelet setting tool (such as a crop-o-dile)
