Pleated Skirt 18″ Doll Clothes Pattern
It’s your call. Will your 18″ doll look like a prep school girl or a rocker? The choice is yours with this pleated skirt PDF sewing pattern from Liberty Jane®. We suggest you follow your inner star and make a few different versions to decide for yourself!
Design details include a dropped waist yoke, elastic waistband, and easy pleat design. The skirt yoke or pleated section can be cut on grain or on the bias for a diagonal variation. The pink and black skirt featured on the cover shows the yoke cut on the bias. The black and white skirt variation shows the pleated section cut on the bias for a diamond effect.
Supplies Needed:
- 1/2 yard woven cotton fabric (to cut pleated section on the bias)
- 1/4″- 3/8″ wide elastic
- Thread
- Iron and pressing tools
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner. In terms of sewing difficulty, this is an intermediate level pattern, with instructions and pictures laid out in a way that a beginner sewer can understand. In other words, if you’ve never sewn before, you might find it hard, but if you’ve sewn before, you can probably do it pretty easily. You can make a pleated skirt in an hour or two, then once you’ve learned how to do it, you can make dozens of fun skirts for your 18 inch American Girl Dolls.
