This PDF knitting pattern has instructions for both the Girl size hat (fits approximately ages 3- 10) AND 18-inch dolls such as American Girl®, and includes instructions for how to create the hat using the Magic Loop Method, but you could also use double pointed needles instead!
The pattern is rated Intermediate because you will need to be comfortable with knitting in the round on circular or double pointed needles.

-Doll Size: US5-32″ circular knitting needles (OR DPN if you don’t want to use Magic Loop Method)
-Worsted Weight Yarn – 135 yards – 2 colors
-Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends
