Description
Shanku Ensemble for 8 Inch BJD such as Ten Ping and Mini Sara
The shanku is a traditional two-piece Chinese ensemble. It consists of an upper and lower garment. The upper garment or jacket is known as a shan or ru. The lower garment or pants is called a ku. The jacket is pocketless with a wide collar and wide sleeves. The collar overlaps in the front providing a “y” shaped neckline (youren). The shanku is worn by men, women, and children.
Traditionally, shanku colors were limited to blue, black, and white with little decoration. However, the emperor and imperial family wore red, bright yellow, and purple. Today you will see shanku garments of all colors often including gold brocade embroidery.
This pattern includes a little shan jacket with a snap closure. It has tiny faux frogs for decoration. The pants have an elastic waist. Also included is a pattern for a Liangmao, a traditional Chinese sun hat which ties under the chin.
