Description
Sixties Scarf Top & Stirrup Pants 18″ Doll Clothes
Stirrup Pants, like so many other items in the fashion cycle, have had waves of popularity beginning in the early 19th century. The early models were worn by men, with the stirrup worn under a boot with a bit of heel to help keep the strap in place. The early years of the 1960s saw a resurgence for this fashion, but this time the style was worn by women. Females in the United States were more likely to wear the straps inside their shoes, while women in other countries wore them both ways. But no matter how you wore them, you were in style!
This doll-sized pattern, by Forever 18 Inches, features authentic detailing: front pintucks, working stirrups that close with snaps or can be permanently attached, a flat-front waistband with an elasticized back for a universal fit, and the option of making the pants in either a stretch woven fabric or a stable knit.
The fully-lined Scarf Top is also based on fashion trends popular in the Sixties. Scarves were popular accessories that helped dress the streamlined silhouettes of the decade up or down. Sewn-in loops on the top keep the scarf neatly in place, and the scarf can be changed out for different mix-and-match options. A cropped variation of the top that will fit underneath the Forever 18 Inches Campaign Jacket can also be made.
This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18″ dolls such as American Girl®.
