Sukie Denim Ra-Ra Skirt 18″ Doll Clothes Pattern
The Sukie denim ra-ra skirt, by Genniewren Designs, is a fun skirt you will want to make for your dolls.
With its fly front and cute rear patch pockets the top part of the Sukie skirt is carefully designed to look like it has been cut off from an old pair of jeans. The style is made funky and modern by use of a brightly colored print ruffle with an underlayer of tulle.
Ra-ra skirts date back to the 1980s disco era. During the day they were worn with soft frilly blouses, bare legs and sandals. At night they took on a different persona when worn with sparkly lycra tops, lurex leotards and footless tights!
The versatile Sukie ra-ra skirt is perfect worn over funky tights and trendy boots, or worn bare legged with pretty sandals or funky croc-style clogs.
It will fast become an indispensable part of your 18” doll’s wardrobe.
Recommended Fabrics: Light weight denim or cotton drill for the top part of the skirt, quilter’s cotton, lawn, polycotton for the ruffle, tulle or organza for the under ruffle.
Supplies Needed:
-A piece of denim or cotton drill cloth approximately 14” x 8”. Soft lightweight denim is better for dolls clothes than the really heavy fabric used for men’s jeans.
-One jelly roll strip (2½” x 44”) in a bright fabric print. If you prefer you can use remnants left over from other projects.
-A strip of tulle 56” x 2¾“. If preferred, wide lace, eyelet, or organza ribbon could be used instead.
-1¾” piece of Anti Snag hook and loop tape cut in half longways for the fastening.
-Orange sewing thread to mimic the “jeans style” construction.
-Lace to edge the tulle (optional).
